Electrically controllable cyclotron resonance

چکیده

Cyclotron resonance (CR) is considered one of the fundamental phenomena in conducting systems. In this paper, we study CR a gated two-dimensional (2D) electron system (ES). Namely, analyze absorption electromagnetic radiation incident normal to 2DES, where standard dielectric substrate separates 2D sheet and metallic steering electrode ("gate"); whole placed perpendicular magnetic field. Our analysis reveals redshift peak frequency compared cyclotron frequency. The appears low-frequency regime, when resonant much less than Fabry-Perot modes natural resonator "2D - gate". Moreover, find shift be dependent on density 2DES. Therefore, it can controlled by varying gate voltage. We predict that large realistic or back-gated 2DESs. obtained controllability 2DES opens door for exploring new physics applications phenomenon.

Cyclotron Resonance and Quasiparticles

This introductory paper contains personal perspectives about the importance of cyclotron resonance in forming our modern view of solids. The papers following this one will discuss the discovery, refinements, and some of the latest developments. Although I will touch on some of these subjects, I leave the details to the other authors and in the main focus on the conceptual impact of the work. I ...

In Ion-cyclotron Resonance Heating

We determine the conditions under which the damping of the fast Alfven wave, used in the heating of tokamak plasmas, can be described by the geometrical optics approximations. Also, for these conditions, we derive an analytical formula which explicitly determines the amount of energy which is damped onto the plasma particles by the fast wave. The conditions for the validity of the geometrical o...
